We created an art installation for Summit at Sea inspired by local coral reefs. Summit at Sea is an event that brings together 3,000 artists, activists, and entrepreneurs on a three-day cruise from Miami to the Bahamas. Eleven sculptures ranging in height from 4 to 10 feet inhabited the stage creating an undersea environment that called attention to the ecosystem beneath the ship while creating a color-changing backdrop for Summit’s speakers and performances.
Each sea fan-like sculpture was assembled from 8 flat pieces of CNC routed sintra. This allowed them to be brought on board the ship flat and put together in one day. Lights inside the sculptures allowed them to be programmed to create different environments to complement each talk and performance.
