radiolaria pendant
Inspired by radiolarians, ocean-dwelling unicellular organisms that construct intricate silica skeletons, this lightweight pendant captures the logic of microscopic architecture at wearable scale.

A shimmering web of hexagonal cells expands and contracts as it draws inward toward a central point. The geometry shifts in scale across the surface, creating a sense of motion.

Originally designed in 2007 as our first stainless steel jewelry piece, the Radiolaria Pendant remains a foundational design in our collection. It reflects our early fascination with natural pattern formation and algorithmic design.

The collection explores delicate hexagonal mesh structures in photochemically etched stainless steel as well as bold interpretations in laser-cut silicone rubber. The patterns were created in an interactive physics simulation we created.

Etched from stainless steel, the pendant hangs from an 18" stainless steel chain (with 2" extender) or 18" gold-filled chain.
